Good news, guys! I got the internship! I am extremely excited to start interning at the Jordan Institute of Diplomacy this Sunday... the lady who interviewed me said there wouldn't be too much for me to do, but mostly my job would consist of doing lots of research on foreign policy and correct policy memos that had been translated from Arabic to English. I'm pretty sure that sounds more than good enough to me! I can't wait!
Otherwise, there hasn't been much going on these past couple of days. Area studies classes began today, which was nice. I was able to get into two classes I wanted, but am going to have to drop one of them due to my internship being for-credit.
It's been raining a lot, here in Amman. Apparently it hasn't rained this much since 2008... so it's definitely not very common. One would think I would be used to cold weather, with Clark being in New England and all.... but the weather here is a different kind of cold that I honestly did not expect. It's damp and seeps into your bones and it is truly miserable to have to walk everywhere in... however I do not want to complain too much, because rain is actually good for Jordan. There is a high water shortage in this country, hence rain means more water supply for the summer, when it does actually get extremely hot. So the rain is good, it's just the complete opposite of what I think pretty much everyone expected before coming here. I just hope that the weather gets a little better at least by the time we take our trip to Petra and Wadi Rum... There is a week left and I seriously cannot wait to go into the desert, ride camels, and spend a night with a bedouin tribe!
Now I'm off to practice some more Arabic... this is getting to be a really mentally exhausting but still extremely rewarding 24/7 hour job!
